Anissina and Peizerat

Marina Anissina, born August 30, 1975 in Moscow, and Gwendal Peizerat, born April 21, 1972 in Lyon France, won the gold medal in ice dance figure skating for France at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the bronze medal in 1998. This talented Russian/French ice dance team, known for their dramatic and lyrical expression, has turned pro and has skated in the U.S. with Champions on Ice shows, as well as many figure skating shows in Europe.

The competitive figure skating history of Anissina and Peizerat is is impressive. In addition to many medals in the Grand Prix series, they consistently medalled at all other major competitions. In 1998, they placed third at Europeans, 2nd at Worlds and 3rd at the Olympics. In both 1999 and 2001, they won the silver medal at both Europeans and Worlds, taking home the gold at both championships in 2000. In 2002, they were first at Europeans, and the gold medal winners in ice dance in the Winter Olympics.

About Marina: Both of Marina's parents are skating champions. Her mother, Irina Chernieva competed in pairs at the 1972 Winter Olympics with Vasili Blagoc, and is now a pairs figure skating coach. Her father is a World and European champion in ice hockey and is an ice hockey coach in Moscow.

As a junior ice dancer, Marina originally paired with Sergei Sakhnovski, then competed with Ilia Averbukh, with whom she won gold at the Junior World Championships in 1990 and 1992. Ilia however fell in love with Irina Lobacheva, and left Marina to create the ice dance team of Lobacheva and Averubukh. Since turning pro, Marina still ice dances with Gwendal, but also pursues ice dance choreography and coaching.
